How to Speak so that People Want to Listen
Does it seem like there is an awful lot of shouting going on these days? Disagreement has turned into a high volume way of defending our point of view. This certainly puts the kibosh on communication, connection or collaboration…only to amp up gridlock and anxiety.
Our one precious life deserves some relief from the cacophony don’t you think? We need to learn about every day, down-to-earth ways of speaking that really work. Wouldn’t it be great to have access and insight to the perspective and skills that will give us the confidence to share ourselves with more effectiveness, grace, and ease? Wouldn’t it be great to feel like we CAN express ourselves fully, even with people who might not agree?
That’s why, when I saw/heard this Ted Talk recently, I was compelled to share it with you. You will see why it has earned so many views. My hope is that it will energize your desire to speak up, to be known and to be heard for those things that matter most to you.
